This blog post outlines the available positions for the Upgrading of Kahama – Bulyanhulu Junction – Kakola (73KM) Road to Bitumen Standard project.

1. Principal Engineer II (Resident Engineer):

Entry Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience.
  • Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Head the site staff, overseeing all technical and administrative aspects.
  • Supervise contractors and force account operations.
  • Prepare work plans, manage quality control, and oversee project contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with Social and Environmental Impact mitigation measures.

2. Senior Engineer (Highway Engineer):

Entry Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer.
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise contract conditions and specifications conformity.
  • Review designs and advise the Resident Engineer appropriately.
  • Inspect completed works for compliance with technical specifications.
  • Prepare progress reports and control charts for main activities.

3. Senior Engineer (Materials):

Entry Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer.
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the laboratory and experiments, ensuring strict adherence to specifications.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures in the project.
  • Inspect, test, and approve materials and completed works.
  • Review test results and advise on the way forward.

4. Senior Land Surveyor (Topographical Surveyor):

Entry Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Must be registered by NCPS as a Professional Land Surveyor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, and reports of works performed.
  • Review survey data for accuracy and establish legal boundaries for properties.
  • Coordinate findings with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Adjust surveying instruments to maintain accuracy.

5. Assistant Land Surveyor:

Entry Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of sketches, maps, and reports.
  • Review survey data for accuracy and record results.
  • Assist in determining specifications for photographic equipment.

6. CAD Technician:

Key Entry Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
  • Certificate in CAD training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare drawings and sketches related to road or bridge design.
  • Collaborate with other staff for design improvements.

7. Senior Engineer (Structures/Bridge Engineer):

Entry Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • Must be registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review structural drawings and reports for conformity to standards.
  • Inspect and approve construction materials for compliance.
  • Keep records including reports, works diaries, and correspondence.
  • Approve measured quantities of drainage works.

Terms of Service:

Successful applicants must be ready to work for considerable lengths of time in Kahama District where the project is located.

  • Terms of Employment: Specified Contract for 1 year
  • Salary: TANROADS Salary scale with other site allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy
